MORE INFO

LOMOCRON Anamorphic lenses are a unique hybrid of vintage LOMO Square Front Anamorphic optics, and vintage Leica R Summicron spherical optics. The result is a set of lenses with truly unique characteristics, and housings built for modern productions.

LOMOCRONS retain all of the best aspects of LOMO Square Fronts anamorphic lenses including gorgeous lens flares, very pleasing and linear barrel distortion, and geometry that is both classic, but unique to Square Fronts. The 35mm and 50mm are very sharp on center, even wide open, with a pleasing amount of fall off. The 90mm is sightly softer and dreamier. At T2.8, the set is performs quite well.

The mechanics are completely new. Focus and iris are smooth, repeatable and reliable. Focus and iris gear positions are matched across the set, and they have industry standard front diameters. No more square fronts that are a nightmare for matte boxes, and they are filter and diopter-friendly.

It’s important to note, the image shift issues that plague nearly every set of original LOMO Square Fronts are gone, thanks to Whitepoint Optics’ mechanical design. These lenses feel and operate like you’d expect from a modern cinema lens.

As for sensor coverage and compatibility, the 35mm covers beyond Super 35mm, but it does not cover Full Frame. The 50mm almost covers Mini LF Open Gate. We list is as FF because you can get a clean 2.40:1 crop on Mini LF 4.5K Open Gate, which is what most filmmakers are looking for. The 90mm covers Mini LF 4.5K Open Gate completely. These lenses are also compatible with film cameras.
