MORE INFO
These lenses have all the characteristics you want in anamorphic glass: linear barrel distortion, oval bokeh, and beautiful, blue-streak lens flares. At the heart of Cineovision Anamorphic lenses are legendary Shiga optics. The same people who built the anamorphic elements for JDC, Todd AO, Technovison, and Nippon Scope. We have high speed and standard speed sets, but you can mix and match them. The base spherical lenses are Zeiss B-Speeds (High Speeds), or Zeiss Standard Speeds. The irises have all been replaced with 15-blade irises, delivering perfectly oval bokeh when stopped down.
Shoot these lenses wide-open and you get a creamy low contrast look with incredibly shallow depth of field and stunning bokeh. Stop them down to T2.8 and sharpness and contrast increase dramatically. Just as important as all that performance, they also render faces beautifully, without stretching people or making them look wider (often referred to as "mumps"). If you want all the beauty of vintage anamorphic lenses, Cineovison anamorphics are one of the best all-around vintage anamorphic options available.
They are compatible with clip-on matte boxes, and all follow focus systems. The focus and iris gears do not move forward and backward during focusing, making these lenses some of the easiest vintage anamorphics to work with.
NOTE: The 25mm is only compatible with 6x6 matte boxes and filters. It is NOT compatible with 4x5.65 filters, 138mm diopters, or any 138mm round filters. All require clip-on matte boxes. They do not work with swing away, or rod supported matte boxes.
