Kern Switar RX Primes and Macro-Switar RX primes were made in Switzerland in the 1960s by Kern-Paillard for Bolex reflex 16mm cameras. The RX versions were designed to compensate for the addition of the prism in Bolex reflex cameras, and that is where they really shine. These are some of the most beautiful and highly regarded C-Mount primes ever made. We have multiple sets in pristine condition.

In spite of their small size and weight, the lenses really perform. They are sharp with minimal aberrations, and they all focus incredibly close. The 10mm and 16mm RX lenses are not designated “Macro” like the 26mm, 50mm, and 75mm, but they do focus incredibly close. The lenses designated “Macro'-Switar” are able to rotate two full focus rotations, allowing you the get macro shots without the need for diopters or extension tubes. Of course they still perform wonderfully in normal, non-macro shooting situations.

These lenses are ideal when you want an extremely lightweight set-up, and want the benefits of fast, close-focusing lenses. We have added new fronts to the lenses, so they can all accept 49mm filters. We have 49mm circular polarizer, NDs, and diffusion filters upon request.
