The name Phēnix is appropriate, since the lens has truly been reborn after so many of us had given up on it. After years of pursuing the project, the legendary Angeniuex / Tokina 28-70mm f2.6 has been successfully rehoused for proper cinema use. To properly rehouse this lens, as well as make the lens parfocal, is a monumental and difficult task. Many thought it was actually impossible, but Iron Glass did it. The lens is parfocal, and its character and performance have been maintained.

We love this lens because it has the perfect range for FF sensors, it’s fast, and it has a great look. It’s more flattering, and has more character than modern zooms, and the lens flares are really special. The lens compliments many of our vintage lens sets well, including Canon FD, Minolta, Nikon, and Olympus. And it’s really compact and lightweight.
