TODD AO Anamorphic lenses are some of the rarest and most intersting vintage Anamorphic lenses out there. Commissioned by TODD-AO 35 featuring legendary Japanese anamorphic optics in front of some of the best primes lenses available for cinema. They still hold their own, and make wonderful images today.

We are fortunate to have both series of TODD AO Anamorphic Primes. The first generation were based on Cooke Speed Panchro and Cooke Kinetal Primes. The second Generation often referred to as “High Speeds” have Canon K-35 primes as their base lenses. The two sets are quite different and we recommend testing them to see what fits your project. They differ in optical designs, focus systems, mechanical designs, size, weight, maximum aperture, close focus, as well as character.

Both sets will deliver the classic vintage anamorphic look, including big, bold lens flares, oval bokeh, and the right mount of linear barrel distortion. But they do it in different ways, so testing is always recommended with these.

We have upgraded our Todd AO MKII High Speeds with the ARMA Orbital System (pictured), so the lenses no longer rotate when focusing. Both sets accept standard 4x5.65 clip on matte boxes.

NOTE: The 200mm T3 Macro is a rear anamorphic. So while it does give you the 2x anamorphic squeeze, you do not get oval bokeh or those classic streaking lens flares that you get with the rest of these lenses.
