As a welcome follow-up to their original modern anamorphic lenses, Cooke released these to offer an anamorphic lens option for the new era of Full Frame/Large Format/Vista Vision sensors. Like their predecessors, they are quite sharp, they handle backlight and high contrast situations well, and their “Special Flair” coatings deliver lovely blue, classic, anamorphic flare character. Being true “front anamorphic” designs, they also deliver oval bokeh, and unique anamorphic distortion and geometry.

Cooke decided on a 1.8x squeeze ratio rather than the traditional 2x for this series. When paired with a 4:3 (1.33:1) aspect ratio sensor, that gives you an almost exact 2:40:1 desqueezed image, meaning you don’t have to crop your footage to finish in 2:40:1. On 3:2 sensors like Mini LF and Venice, you get 2:7:1, which means only a small amount of cropping the sides to get a final 2:40:1.

We have a complete set from 32mm to 180mm including the 85mm Macro, which features a 22” close focus. All the lenses have Cooke’s now legendary mechanics, with buttery smooth cam-driven focus system, matching gear positions, and standard 110mm or 136mm fronts. The lenses also feature Cooke’s /i Technology, which communicates each lens’ metadata to the camera for easier post production workflows.

NOTE: these lenses are compatible with 35mm film cameras.
