MORE INFO

In 1928, this lens was considered to be one of the highest performing lenses of the time. Yes, this lens is nearly 100 years old! It’s a simple 4-element design with uncoated optics. As for the look, the lenses resolve well on center with soft corners. Since they are uncoated, they have very low contrast. They are flattering on your subject, and ideal for portraits. Bokeh has a beautiful texture, with slight soap bubble, and there is a lovely swirling effect, drawing your attention to the center of frame. Flares are neutral in color and will take on the hue of the light source. There is nothing else quite like them. We will soon have a complete set of 1920s and 1930s Astro Berlin primes for rentals.

Please note, while yes, the 50mm just barely covers Full Frame, this set was designed for a much smaller negative. The wider focal lengths will be limited to S35 formats.
