MORE INFO

This little lens is quite impressive. This is a 12mm T2.9, and it’s a Full Frame, rectilinear lens, NOT a fisheye. Venus Optics calls it “Zero-D” meaning zero distortion. This feature is more often referred to as “rectilinear” for ultra wide angle lenses, as opposed to fisheye lenses, which have an extremely wide field of view, but also extreme distortion.

The lens is super sharp, and is extremely well corrected for aberrations, and has almost no visible distortion, meaning straight lines stay straight. It’s also very small and very light-weight, making it perfect for gimbal or drone applications.

Think of this lens as the Zeiss Ultra Prime 8R for Full Frame. By that we mean, this lens gives you roughly the same field of view when mounted to a Full Frame camera, as the legendary 8R Ultra Prime will deliver on a Super 35mm sensor.
