Old Fast Glass is proud to have one of the only sets of TLS rehoused LOMO Round Front Anamorphic lens sets in the world. We have been waiting for a long time to finally have these lenses inside housings as good as their legendary optics. So many filmmakers are in love with the character of LOMO Round Fronts, but the poor mechanics of the original housings was too cumbersome to deal with on set, where time is not a luxury, and being able to rely on your gear is so important.

Like many vintage anamorphics, over the years LOMOs have received a reputation of being soft, but that isn’t accurate. This reputation is largely due to the number of sets in the world that could be sharper if they were just properly serviced and aligned. When TLS completes their rehousing process, the lenses are as sharp as the day they were first built. It’s incredible to see.

The lenses now have internal cam-driven focus, with improved close focus. It’s now easy to use filters, diopters, matte boxes and follow focus, because the lenses no longer have rotating telescoping fronts. Placement of focus and iris gears is consistent across the set for quicker lens changes.

LOMO Round Fronts are sharp on center (even wide open) with fall-off in the corners. They have classic barrel distortion, perfectly oval bokeh, and some of the most beautiful lens flares of any anamorphic lens.
