MORE INFO

This vintage lens is one of the widest rectilinear lenses ever made. Keep in mind, this is not a fisheye lens. In fact, the lens has no distortion at all, which is amazing considering its age, and speed. It’s quite sharp, but has some bloom wide open. Contrast increases when stopped down. As an added bonus the lens has virtually no focus breathing, and close focus is so good, you can get close enough to your subject to nearly touch the front element!

The Kinoptik 9.8mm got some notoriety by being a favorite of Stanley Kubrick, which he used on both A Clockwork Orange and The Shining. Zero Optik’s rehousing is a work of art visually, and a joy to use on set. Focus throw is 330 degrees, and buttery smooth. The original iris has been replaced by a new, matte-finished, circular iris.

This lens is ideal if you need an ultra wide angle lens to pair with many of our vintage lens sets, especially our older sets form the 1950s and 1960s.
